Artist-in-Residence Program in Madrid 2026
Focus: Visual Arts

We are pleased to announce an open call for our Artist-in-Residence Program in Madrid, inviting two visual artists to work and live in Madrid for a period of two months each.

The residency offers time and space for focused artistic work in a dynamic cultural environment. It aims to support contemporary visual arts and foster international artistic exchange.

What We Offer

• A fully equipped apartment and studio in central Madrid
• Technical support and assistance on site
• Possibility to present your work (e.g. open studio, exhibition, artist talk)
• Access to local networks and cultural institutions
• Return trip to Madrid and back (max. 300 €)

Eligibility

Open to professional artists working in the field of visual arts (painting, sculpture, installation, new media, etc.)
Two residency slots are available – one artist per time slot
International applications are welcome
Spanish language skills are not mandatory, but beneficial
No age limit

Residency Periods

Residency 1: April 1 – May 30, 2026
Residency 2: September 1 – October 31, 2026

Please indicate your preferred residency period (you may apply for both). The two timeslots for the residencies are fixed and can not be altered.

How to Apply
Please submit the following documents as one single PDF file (max. 10 MB) in English:

• Artist CV
• Short project proposal (max. 1 page) outlining your intended work during the residency
• Portfolio with relevant work samples (max. 10 pages; links to video works may be included)

Selection Process
Participants will be selected by an international, independent jury of experts from the fields of art, curating, and cultural management.

Application Deadline:
October 15th, 2025 (Midnight CET)

Notification of selected artists:
By November 2025

Please Note:
The residency is not funded, but housing, studio space, and on-site technical support are provided free of charge. Living expenses must be covered by the artists themselves.
